Presenting the Tapestry

Each year we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Andrew – our patron saint. This is a special service for all members of the St. Andrew’s community – a wonderful time to give thanks for our many blessings.
It seemed only fitting that the tapestry, woven to represent our community and the many individuals who have created it, would be revealed at this service. The tapestry was placed on the altar for the first time so that all could see it.
During the Prayers of the People, members of the parish were invited to come forward and tie a knot in the threads which bind the front and back fabrics of the tapestry. As they tied the knots, parish members were asked to pray for St. Andrew’s. These prayers for the continued life and health of the parish and its members held a special resonance, as many made them while touching fabric they had brought in and wove into the design.
