SAFEGUARDING GOD’S CHILDREN We are offering Safeguarding God’s Children workshop here at St. Andrew’s on Saturday April 5th at 10am. The training will be held in the Gerber Library and is required of anyone who works with children at the church. You need to complete a training session every three years. Please let the Parish Office know if you will be attending. This training is free and required of all youth ministry volunteers, Sunday School teachers, vestry members, and church employees.
Additionally, St. Michael’s Church, 49 Killean Park, Albany, NY 12205 will be holding a session on Saturday, April 5th, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. Those wishing to attend may register by calling St. Michael’s at (518) 869-6417 no later than Wednesday, April 2nd.

SPRING SPRUCE-UP DAY To prepare for the Easter season we will gather on Saturday, April 12 beginning at 9:00am. The Altar Guild and helpers will polish and clean the brass and silver, as well as strip and ready the palms for Palm Sunday. Others are needed to wipe down pews and woodwork. Coffee and goodies will be available.

EASTER BRUNCH The Easter Brunch needs volunteers to cook scrumptious Easter delights, to decorate Carmichael Hall in pastel hues of spring, and, of course, help clean up when the festivities are over. Please see John White if you can help or sign up in the Parish Hall.

NEW STOVE COLLECTION We are collecting monetary donations to cover the cost of a new stove in our parish kitchen. The new stove is just the thing we needed to better keep up with our neighborhood dinner and other community outreach projects.

MINISTRY VOLUNTEER POSSIBILITIES Our newly updated Ministry Volunteer board is up in Carmichael Hall. There are lots of  ministry areas where you can volunteer to help out in the life of the parish, from worship ministries to outreach. Take a look and see where you can help!

THANK YOU’S Many thanks to all who helped and attended our Newcomer Reception last Sunday. We always try to welcome those who are new in our midst, and it is nice to pause in Mid-Lent to recognize them and let them know we are glad they have joined us. Be sure to say hello to someone you do not know this Sunday morning.

ISO: DIAPER CHANGING TABLE Dad’s change diapers, too! A changing table in good condition is needed for the Men’s Room. If you have one in good shape to donate, please call the church office.

CHOIR REHEARSALS Please note the following choir rehearsal dates: Sunday April 13th 4:30pm, Thursday April 17th at 5:15pm, Friday April 18th at 6pm, and Sunday April 20th at 7:20am.

The book being read is Reflecting the Glory: Meditations for Living Christ’s Life in the World and is available from or you can order it from your local bookstore. The group began on Sunday, March 9th but you are welcome to attend any week you can. Please bring a copy of the book with you.

PARKING PERMITS Parking permits for the church lot are available during office hours.

NOTE TO FLOWER GUILD Just a reminder that Flower Guild will be meeting at 11am on Saturday April 19th (the day before Easter) in the church to arrange Easter Flowers.

LENTEN PRAYER TABLE During Lent there is a Prayer Table at the rear of the Church, in the corner. There you may sit or kneel for a moment of prayer. Votive candles are provided for you to light as you offer a prayer. We encourage you to visit the prayer table on Sunday or whenever the church is open. Thanks to the Worship committee and Cynde Schwartz for arranging this prayer opportunity.

LENTEN SCHEDULE Our Lenten Schedule is now available in the Lenten Brochures found on the tables by the doors and the Lenten Resource Table in the hallway by Carmichael Hall. There are many ways to enhance your spiritual life during Lent. Examples include prayer, study, and giving. Our Focus Food Pantry baskets are always looking for donations. Why not make it part of your Lenten discipline to bring a few cans of food each week to church. The Episcopal Relief and Development HOPE Chest boxes are also a good Lenten discipline. Take one with you today!

cross_8983STATIONS OF THE CROSS & SOUP SUPPER Stations of the Cross and Soup Supper will be held each Friday in Lent. Beginning at 6:00pm in the Church we will walk the way of the Cross and then enjoy soup and bread supper. Volunteers are needed to help with bringing soup/bread and leading the Stations. Please see Rev. Mary with questions. There is a sign-up sheet in Carmichael Hall.

DAILY DEVOTIONALS Daily Devo is a new daily e-mail devotional from Forward Movement publications.  This resource for prayer and reflection is delivered daily to your inbox.  Every daily devotion offers a brief meditation on Scripture, a video or images, and a call to action with prayer: Read, Watch, Act, Pray. Albany Via Media has purchased a congregational subscription to daily Devo.  They would like to make this resource available to members of St. Andrews.  If you would like to have Daily Devo sent to you, please send an email to  Along with your subscription you will receive occasional program announcements from AVM. Whether you have 10 minutes or an hour, by computer or cell phone, Daily Devo can increase your spiritual health.  The email will arrive in your inbox in the morning.  You decide when to share, whenever it is convenient for you.
