Children are a very special part of our church family. They participate in almost all levels of worship at St. Andrew's. Our young people read lessons, sing in the choir, and serve as acolytes. Children may receive the Eucharist from the time of Baptism.
We also recognize that Sunday worship might be a challenge for some
youngsters, so we have created a children's corner, which is located
at a front corner of the Church with a good view of the altar.
Here they may look at books, color pictures, or sit in a rocker with a
parent. We also supply a Sunday packet, which includes appropriate
literature, puzzles, and pictures to help them through the mass.
While we try to make the Sunday liturgy a meaningful experience for
children,
we are also dedicated to offering a weekly Christian Education program
for all members of the church, especially our young people. We
currently have Sunday classes for children in grades K–9. These
classes begin at 9:45 on Sunday mornings. We are very conscious of
the need to offer Christian Education to all children in the parish;
so we add classes as the need arises.
To augment the Sunday school curriculum, occasionally a children's sermon is part of the 10:00 Eucharist. We also have activities in the children's chapel several times throughout the year.
Our Adult Faith Formation program consists of a variety of activities designed to assist adults of the parish in their personal faith development. We proceed in the Anglican way using Scripture, Reason, and Tradition. By availing ourselves of these opportunities we hope to grow in understanding of our Christian faith. By becoming more fully formed as people of faith we can better live into our Baptismal Covenant.
Scripture Reflections
An opportunity for those who want to reflect on the Sunday
Scriptural readings, taken from the lectionary, in the light of their own faith and experience.
This group meets Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m.
Living the Questions
Meeting Sundays in Lent at 11:30 a.m., continuing the popular DVD series
begun last year, Living the Questions explores many of the
questions of faith that 21st century Christians have.
Benedictine Experience
This weekly event follows in the tradition of St. Benedict. It
meets Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. Bring a sandwich and share a meal in
silence while listening to Scripture. There will be a brief
discussion and sharing after the meal followed by Holy Eucharist
at 6:30 p.m.
Scripture Reflections
A second weekly opportunity for sharing together in reading and
reflecting on the Sunday Scriptural readings. Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.
Adult forums are held several Sundays each month following the 10:00 am Eucharist. Topics are announced in the Sunday leaflets, and in The Network.
